Bookkeeping

You didn't set up in business to become a bookkeeper.  However the harsh reality is that, in the early days, you have no alternative but to get involved in the paperwork.

However we've chosen the two simplest bookkeeping software programmes which suit your needs and we're going to take you through how to use this software step by step.

The important thing to remember is that you will need to invest some time to understand and be able to use the system.  We suggest two hours a week for the first month and we also suggest that you use this time to play with the demonstration system as well as setting up your own system.

And the time you invest now will bring bumper rewards as your business grows and flourishes.

So just choose the bookkeeping package applicable for you and get going...

By the way, if you'd like to find out how we can help take the pain away from bookkeeping, simply look at our guide to our bookkeeping services here and give Jo or Julia a shout!

Xero bookkeeping software

We give all our non-contractor clients access to Xero. Quite simply the most beautiful online bookkeeping there is...

Xero cash accounting

If you're using Cashbook Xero, there will be more administration which you'll need to do outside of Xero. Find out more about this here.

FreeAgent bookkeeping software

If you're a contractor or freelancer limited company with relatively few transactions each month, then FreeAgent is the best software for you. Simple to use and with a corporation tax forecast, this is a great software package!

Excel

If you are using our Excel template, this section gives you instructions as to how to use this.

Dext

Dext is a fantastic time-saving add on to Xero and FreeAgent. Find out more about this and how it works here.

PayPal

PayPal is one of the accounts which causes clients a lot of confusion. You can read our handy guide here to see what your options are with regards to both business and personal PayPal and what we recommend.
